Tm List In Pokemon Yellow

Tm List In Pokemon Yellow

Let's talk TMs in Pokemon Yellow. Remember those little discs of potential? They held the key to unlocking your Pokemon's hidden power. Or, more often, they were a one-way ticket to disappointment.

TMs: The Hype vs. The Reality

The game makes it sound so epic. You find a TM! Imagine the possibilities! Will it be Earthquake? Will it be Thunderbolt? Oh, the power! The glory!

Then you check what it actually is. Flash. Of course. Always Flash. As if every cave wasn't already a monument to our blindness.

And the worst part? One use only! It's like getting a coupon for a free ice cream, but you can only use it to lick the cone. What kind of monster designed this system?

My Unpopular Opinion: They're Overrated

Here's where I might get some hate mail. I think TMs in Yellow are massively overrated. Sure, some are game-changers. But a lot of them? Garbage. Absolute digital trash.

Dig? Situationally useful, I guess. Unless you get trapped in a cave, then it's your personal hell. Toxic? A slow and agonizing death for your opponent...and also a move that takes forever to work. By the time they're poisoned, you've taken more damage than they have.

And don’t even get me started on Mimic. Who thought that was a good idea? Teach my Pikachu to mimic…what? Rattata's Tackle? Thanks, I hate it.

It feels like you’re hoarding them. Petrified that you’ll use the “wrong” TM on the “wrong” Pokemon. You end up clutching onto Fire Blast until the Elite Four, then finally slap it on Charizard only to realize you’re out of PP Ups.

The Eternal Dilemma

The real struggle? Deciding who gets the precious TM. Do I give Thunderbolt to Pikachu? It feels right. It's his signature move! But what if Starmie would be a better user? Oh, the agony!

This leads to hours of agonizing decision-making. Consulting online guides (back when online guides meant grainy screenshots and endless text files). Debating with friends. All for a single-use item that might end up being completely useless against Brock.

It's like deciding which child gets the last slice of pizza. Only, the pizza is made of pixels and the children are digital monsters with questionable movepools.

A Few Exceptions (Maybe)

Okay, okay, not all TMs are bad. Thunderbolt and Earthquake are obviously amazing. Psychic is pretty great too, especially for taking down those pesky Fighting-types. But let's be real, those are like the MVPs. The rest are just benchwarmers hoping for a chance to shine.

And let's face it, some of us only really cared about TM29, Psychic. Alakazam with Psychic? Broken. Unstoppable. A true psychic powerhouse. Everyone else was just playing for second place.

In Conclusion: Love/Hate Relationship

So, there you have it. My controversial take on TMs in Pokemon Yellow. A love/hate relationship fueled by limited resources, questionable move choices, and the constant fear of wasting something valuable. They're a core part of the experience, sure. But sometimes, I wish I could just throw them all into the PC and forget they ever existed. Except for Psychic, of course. Never Psychic.

What do you think? Am I completely off my rocker? Or do you also secretly believe that most TMs in Yellow are just glorified paperweights?
