Reincarnated As A Slime Manga Ending

Okay, let's talk Slime. You know, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. The manga. Specifically, its ending.
Because, and maybe this is just me, I have thoughts. Potentially controversial thoughts. Unpopular opinion alert!
So, Rimuru Saves The World (Again!)
Rimuru, our lovable slime protagonist, pretty much wins, right? Everyone's happy. All the bad guys are dealt with. World peace achieved.
Must Read
And honestly? It's fine. It's a satisfying conclusion in a lot of ways. Rimuru is basically a god at this point.
But... Is it a Good Ending?
Here's where I get a bit… weird. Is “everyone's happy” always the best ending? Does it lack a certain… spice?
Think about it. For a series that started with a salaryman dying and becoming a slime, it got pretty… predictable, didn't it? Rimuru always figures it out.
I mean, I like Rimuru. He's a good slime. A very powerful slime. But maybe too powerful?
The Power Creep Problem
Remember when Rimuru struggled? When goblins were a genuine threat? Ah, simpler times.

As the story went on, the power levels just kept escalating. Each new enemy was stronger, requiring an even more ridiculously powerful solution. It just repeats over and over.
By the end, Rimuru was basically untouchable. The stakes felt… lower. Did anyone really think he was going to lose?
My "Controversial" Take
Okay, brace yourselves. Here it comes. What if... Rimuru didn't solve everything perfectly?
What if there was some lasting consequence? Some sacrifice? Some bittersweetness to the victory?
Hear me out! Imagine a situation where Rimuru wins, but loses a beloved character in the process. That would have given the ending some real emotional weight.

The "Everyone Lives!" Trope
Look, I get it. People like happy endings. They want their favorite characters to be safe and sound.
And there's nothing wrong with that. But sometimes, a little bit of pain makes the triumph feel earned. A little cost to achieve victory.
Think about other great stories. They often have moments of heartbreak. Moments that make you truly appreciate the good times.
An Alternate Ending...? (Just Brainstorming!)
So, let's say, hypothetically, that Shion gets seriously injured in the final battle. Rimuru saves her, of course.
But what if saving her came at a cost? Maybe he had to expend a significant amount of his power. Leaving him weaker, more vulnerable.

Suddenly, the future is uncertain. The threat of new enemies is actually palpable. The happy ending has a shadow hanging over it.
Happy, But a Bit Bland?
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed Reincarnated as a Slime. It's a fun, lighthearted series.
But the ending felt a bit… too clean. Too perfect. Like a Disney movie where even the villains get reformed.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old fan who likes a little angst in my fantasy stories. But I can't help but feel like the ending could have been… more.
The Real Problem? Expectations!
Perhaps my expectations were just too high. I wanted something truly groundbreaking. Something that would stick with me for years.

Instead, I got a solid, satisfying, but ultimately forgettable ending. Which, honestly, isn't the worst thing in the world.
It just leaves me wondering what could have been. Maybe in the next reincarnation story, the hero won't get quite so lucky. Just a thought.
So, Am I Wrong?
Probably! I'm sure plenty of people loved the ending. And that's perfectly fine.
This is just my humble (and potentially misguided) opinion. Feel free to disagree. Let me know your thoughts!
After all, isn't that what fandom is all about? Discussing and debating the things we love (and sometimes, the things we don't quite love).
What do you think about Rimuru's ending? Should it have been happier? Sadder? Let me know in the comments!
