Orange Car Rental Iceland

Let's talk about something a little...controversial. Something that might ruffle some feathers. I’m talking about Orange Car Rental Iceland. Yes, the one with the bright orange branding. The one practically synonymous with navigating the Land of Fire and Ice.
Now, before you sharpen your pitchforks and light your torches, let me be clear. I’m not saying Orange Car Rental is inherently bad. They get you from point A to point B, right? Mostly. And that's the point of a rental car, isn't it?
The Thing About the Orange Hype
But here’s my unpopular opinion: I think they're a tad...overrated. There, I said it. The collective internet gasp I just heard could probably power a small Icelandic village.
Must Read
Hear me out! Iceland is breathtaking. It's magical. It deserves to be experienced. But does that experience have to involve the "official" car of Instagrammable waterfalls and dramatic glaciers?
I get it. The bright orange is visible in any weather. Easy to spot in a parking lot filled with white SUVs. It’s basically a beacon, signaling, "Look at me! I'm in Iceland!" And that visibility is great in the snowy conditions that are often experienced. But honestly, does being easily seen on the Ring Road truly require a statement color like Orange Car Rental delivers?

It's like the Icelandic version of wearing a bright neon tourist t-shirt. Practical? Sure. Subtle? Absolutely not.
The Alternatives Exist, People!
Iceland has a whole host of other car rental companies. Seriously, google it. They’re out there, waiting to whisk you away on your adventures. Many of them probably have cars that are just as reliable, just as well-maintained, and, dare I say, maybe even slightly less...loud.

And let's not forget the price! Being the "it" rental company probably doesn't help keep prices down, does it? Maybe you could save a few krona by opting for a less...fashionable hue. Think of all the extra skyr you could buy!
I'm not suggesting you rent a clown car, or anything wildly impractical. But exploring your options beyond the omnipresent orange might just lead to a better deal, a more personal experience, and a slightly less…obvious declaration of your tourist status.

Of course, Orange Car Rental does have its perks. Their service is generally good, from what I hear. And they've got a massive fleet of cars. Easy to find a 4x4, if that's what you need for venturing into the Highlands. Which is a perfectly fine reason to rent from them.
It's Just a Car, Right?
But at the end of the day, it's just a car. A tool to get you around. It shouldn't dictate your entire Icelandic experience. Don't fall for the hype just because everyone else is doing it.

Maybe you love the orange. Maybe you can't imagine experiencing Iceland any other way. And that's perfectly fine! To each their own, right?
But maybe, just maybe, consider venturing off the beaten orange path. You might be pleasantly surprised.
So, next time you’re planning your Icelandic adventure, take a moment to browse the alternatives. You might just find a gem that fits your needs (and budget) perfectly. And who knows, maybe you'll start a new trend: renting a blue car in Iceland. Now that would be rebellious!
Just remember to drive safely, respect the environment, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Whether you're behind the wheel of an orange chariot or something a little more…understated.
