Logan Fell Vampire Diaries

Logan Fell Vampire Diaries

Okay, okay, gather 'round, let me tell you about Logan Fell from The Vampire Diaries. Remember him? The town's resident news anchor with a jawline sharper than Damon's wit? Probably not, and honestly, who could blame you? He wasn’t exactly the most memorable character in a town overflowing with vampires, werewolves, doppelgangers, and, you know, regular high school drama.

Who Was This Fell-a?

Logan Fell, played by Chris Johnson (who, by the way, also looks suspiciously like a vampire, maybe it's just good genes), was basically Mystic Falls' answer to Anderson Cooper, only less serious and probably more likely to chase after Elena Gilbert than report on actual hard news. He was a local news reporter, charming enough, but let’s be honest, his main contribution to the plot was being a convenient plot device. Think of him as the human equivalent of a paperclip. Useful, but easily replaced.

He was initially involved with Jenna Sommers, Elena and Jeremy’s aunt and guardian. Remember Jenna? The slightly awkward, perpetually single, surprisingly resilient character? Yeah, Logan was dating her. It was cute…for like, five minutes. You just knew it wasn't going to last. I mean, c'mon, this is Mystic Falls! Normal relationships go to die.

And boy, did this relationship die. A fiery, stake-through-the-heart kind of death. Metaphorically… and then literally. We'll get there.

From Anchorman to Snack Bar

Here's where things get interesting (or at least, more interesting than small-town news). Turns out, Logan wasn't as squeaky clean as his perfectly coiffed hair suggested. He was secretly involved in the search for… wait for it… a magical Gilbert family invention! Seriously, the Gilbert family had more secrets than the Vatican. This invention, a compass, supposedly pointed to vampires. Because, you know, in a town crawling with them, you really need a compass to find them. It's like using Google Maps to find the Eiffel Tower.

Plot twist number one: Logan was working with the historical society, which was basically a vampire-hunting club disguised as a bunch of bookworms. They were convinced vampires were running amok (spoiler alert: they were). And Logan, being the ambitious journalist, was hoping to get the scoop of a lifetime. More like the stake of a lifetime, am I right?

Then BAM! Katherine Pierce shows up (posing as Elena, of course, because why not?) and turns Logan into a vampire!. Talk about a career change! From reporting the news to being the news. And not in a good way.

The Downfall of Fell

Vampire Logan wasn't exactly a roaring success. He was clumsy, hungry (for blood, obviously, not donuts), and ultimately, pretty useless. He mostly just bumbled around, trying to figure out this whole undead thing. Think of him as a newbie vampire experiencing some serious growing pains, but instead of growing, he was mostly just… shrinking, as in, closer to his grave.

His tenure as a bloodsucker was short-lived. Damon, being the ever-so-charming and pragmatic vampire that he is, decided that Logan was a liability. Basically, Logan was messing everything up, drawing unwanted attention, and generally being a pain in Damon’s meticulously styled hair. So, Damon did what Damon does best: he staked him! Goodbye, Logan Fell. You were fun while you lasted… which wasn't very long.

The ironic part? Logan’s death ultimately served a purpose. It proved to Alaric Saltzman (another Mystic Falls newbie) that vampires were real, setting him on his path as a vampire hunter. So, in a way, Logan's demise indirectly led to the death of countless other vampires. Talk about a posthumous achievement!

The Legacy (or Lack Thereof)

So, what’s the takeaway from the Logan Fell story? Well, besides the fact that Mystic Falls is a terrible place to live if you value your life expectancy, it's that even the seemingly insignificant characters can have an impact. Even if that impact is just being vampire fodder. He may not have been a major player, but he definitely added a layer of intrigue (and unintentional comedy) to the early seasons of The Vampire Diaries.

And let’s be honest, we all need a little Logan Fell in our lives. Someone to make the Damon Salvatores of the world look even more amazing. He may be gone, but his memory (or lack thereof) lives on! So, the next time you're watching The Vampire Diaries, raise a glass (of…tomato juice, maybe?) to Logan Fell. He may not have been the brightest bulb, but he sure did flicker before burning out spectacularly.
