Overload Champions: A Love-Hate Relationship (Mostly Hate)

Let's talk about Overload Champions in Destiny 2. We all know them. We all tolerate them. I said tolerate, not love.

They teleport, heal, and generally make your life miserable. Are they a challenging mechanic? Sure. Are they fun? Debatable.

Honestly, I think someone at Bungie just really loves watching us suffer. Or maybe they lost a bet.

The Overload Weapon Debacle

So, how do we deal with these teleporting terrors? Overload weapons, of course!

Theoretically, these weapons are designed to stun and disrupt Overload Champions. In practice, it's more like "tickle them slightly while they continue to heal."

Seriously, have you ever seen an Overload Champion shrug off an Overload weapon shot? It's like they're mocking you.

And don't even get me started on trying to coordinate with your fireteam. “Overload this!” becomes a desperate, shouted prayer into the void.

My Unpopular Opinion: Overload Mods Need a Buff

Okay, here's where I might lose some of you. I think Overload mods are... underwhelming.

I said it! Hear me out. It often feels like you need to unload an entire magazine to maybe stun one.

Other Champion mods? Pretty good! But Overload always feels like a gamble. A gamble I usually lose.

"But they're supposed to be challenging!" some of you might cry.

I get it. But there's a difference between challenging and frustrating. Constantly chasing a teleporting, self-healing enemy falls into the latter category.

The Rise (and Fall?) of Auto Rifles

Remember when Auto Rifles were the go-to Overload weapon? Good times. Simple times. Relatively effective times.

Now, it seems like every season, there's a new weapon type to use. Pulse Rifles, Sidearms, Bows...the list goes on. Variety is the spice of life, I guess.

But sometimes, I just want to grab my trusty Auto Rifle and call it a day. Is that too much to ask, Bungie?

The Stun-Lock Struggle is Real

The real struggle with Overload Champions is the stun-lock. You think you've got them, then bam, they teleport away again.

It's like playing whack-a-mole, but the mole has anger issues and can phase through walls.

And if you're using a weapon with a slow rate of fire? Forget about it! You're better off throwing rocks.

Exotic Solutions: Sometimes They Work

Okay, some Exotics do a pretty good job against Overloads. Divinity, for example, makes everything easier. But not everyone has Divinity.

Then there's Eriana's Vow. Powerful, yes. But needing to ADS for a decent amount of time, no one got time for that.

It's like Destiny 2 is saying, "Here's a solution...if you're lucky enough to have it!"

The Future of Overload Weapons

So, what does the future hold for Overload weapons? Hopefully, a brighter, more effective future.

Maybe a slight buff to the stun duration? Or perhaps a way to prevent them from teleporting while stunned? Please?

Until then, I'll keep grumbling and muttering under my breath as I chase those pesky Overload Champions around the battlefield.

Maybe, just maybe, one day I'll actually enjoy fighting them. But I'm not holding my breath.

For now, I'll stick to my trusty Gjallarhorn and hope for the best. Good luck, Guardians! You'll need it.
