Chevy Malibu Gas Tank Size

Let's talk about something near and dear to my heart (and my wallet): the Chevy Malibu gas tank. Specifically, its size.
Now, I have an unpopular opinion. Buckle up!
Is the Malibu Gas Tank Big Enough? (Spoiler Alert: Debatable)
The Chevy Malibu usually boasts a gas tank around 15-16 gallons. Sounds decent, right?
Must Read
Well, here's where things get interesting. Decent isn't always ideal.
I firmly believe it should be bigger. Much bigger. Like, "road trip across the country without stopping" bigger.
My Love/Hate Relationship with the Gas Station
Okay, I don't hate gas stations. They sell snacks.
But I do hate needing to stop at them constantly. Especially when I'm cruising in my trusty Malibu.

There's something about the rhythm of the road, the open highway, and the feeling of endless possibility...that's rudely interrupted by the low fuel light.
Then you're scanning for the cheapest gas prices like a hawk, praying you don't have to sell a kidney to fill up.
And let's be real, nobody wants to spend their vacation calculating MPG.
Gas prices are a headache enough without the added anxiety of a smaller tank!
The "Opportunity" of More Gas Stops? (Nah)
Some might say, "But isn't it good to stretch your legs and take a break?"

Sure, in theory. But I'd rather stretch my legs at a scenic overlook, not next to a squeegee bucket.
Plus, those "quick" stops always turn into 20-minute affairs, thanks to impulse buys and bathroom lines.
We all know the drill! You go in for gas, and you come out with a bag of chips, a questionable-looking hot dog, and a lottery ticket you probably won't win.

The Dream: An Endless Malibu Road Trip
Imagine a world where the Chevy Malibu had a 30-gallon tank. Okay, maybe that's excessive. But I can dream!
Think of all the extra miles you could conquer. All the roadside attractions you could discover.

You could finally see that giant ball of twine without the nagging fear of running on fumes.
You'd spend less time stressing about gas and more time enjoying the ride.
The open road would be truly open, without the asterisk of "subject to fuel availability."
The Reality (and a Plea to Chevy)
Alas, we live in a world where the Malibu's gas tank is what it is.
I will continue to fill it up, begrudgingly, and dream of a day when Chevy hears my plea.

Maybe someday, the Malibu will offer an optional "extended range" gas tank. A girl can hope!
In the meantime, I'll just keep packing extra snacks and a good audiobook. Because those gas station hotdogs? Questionable.
So, am I the only one who feels this way about the Chevy Malibu gas tank? Probably not.
