Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Ep 1 Sub

Okay, let's talk Attack on Titan. Specifically, Season 4 Part 2 Episode 1, subbed, of course. Because who has time to wait for the dub, right?
Look, I know, I know. It’s a masterpiece. Everyone says so. Critics rave. My Twitter feed exploded. But… and this is a big “but”… am I the only one who found it… a little… slow?
Don’t get me wrong! I love angst. I thrive on dramatic stares and brooding silence. But sometimes, I just want things to happen. We're talking about Titans, people! Giant naked monsters stomping around! Where's the chaos?
Must Read
This isn't to say that I didn't appreciate the character development. Eren’s face? Brooding intensity personified. Mikasa looking conflicted? Relatable. Armin trying to be the voice of reason? Bless his heart.
But honestly, sometimes it felt like they were just… standing around. Plotting, sure. Planning, definitely. Staring intensely into the middle distance? Absolutely. But fighting? Running? Actually doing anything that screamed "APOCALYPTIC BATTLE"? Not so much.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm too impatient. Maybe I need to appreciate the subtle nuances of a well-crafted narrative. But hear me out: didn't it feel a little… like a recap episode?

Okay, maybe "recap" is too harsh. But it felt like we were spending a lot of time revisiting old traumas and reminding ourselves of all the terrible things that have already happened. Which, let's face it, is a lot. We get it. Paradise is in trouble. The world is ending. Everyone is sad.
And the monologues! Oh, the monologues! I understand the need for exposition. I truly do. But sometimes, I feel like the characters are just narrating their inner turmoil for the benefit of the audience. Which, again, I appreciate. But maybe they could, you know, show us instead of telling us? A little less philosophical rambling, a little more Titan-smashing action, perhaps?
I fully acknowledge that this is probably an unpopular opinion. The internet seems to be unanimously praising this episode. But I can't help feeling like it was more setup than payoff. Like a really long, drawn-out prologue to the actual war.

I mean, I understand the need to build tension. But the tension felt a little… stretched? Like an elastic band pulled so tight it's about to snap. And then it just… doesn't. It just stays stretched. And you're left wondering when it's actually going to snap.
Of course, the animation was gorgeous. MAPPA did an amazing job. The character designs are stunning, the backgrounds are breathtaking, and the Titans are suitably terrifying. No complaints there.
And the music! The music was absolutely perfect. Haunting, epic, and perfectly suited to the mood of the show. Seriously, the soundtrack is one of the best things about Attack on Titan.

But even the beautiful animation and the incredible music couldn't quite compensate for the lack of… well, action. Or, at least, the lack of perceived action. Maybe it's just the calm before the storm. Maybe the next episode will be a non-stop barrage of Titan-on-human violence. I certainly hope so.
So, yeah. Season 4 Part 2 Episode 1 (subbed). Beautiful, atmospheric, and… a little bit boring? Don't @ me. I said what I said.
I'm still completely invested in the story. I'm still desperate to know what happens next. But I'm also secretly hoping that the next episode will be a little more… explosive. Literally and figuratively. Give me explosions! Give me fighting! Give me Levi Ackerman kicking some Titan butt!

Is that too much to ask?
I am fully prepared to eat my words if the rest of the season turns out to be a masterpiece. But for now, I'm standing by my opinion: great setup, but needs more punch. And maybe a few less existential crises.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch some of the earlier seasons. You know, the ones with the actual Titan fights.
